Trust is a firm reliance on the integrity, ability, or character of a person or thing.
In the story, Karana befriended an Aluet called Totuk. This shows that she trusts Totuk although she was an Aluet. Karana even revealed her secret name to Totuk, she trusted Totuk . Chief Chowig trusted the Aluets and let them kill the otters for a trade . But the Aluets instead, did not keep their promise and even killed Chief Chowig.

Why is it of such significance when Karana revealed her secret name to Tutok?What make her change her mind about an Aleut? They were supposed to be sworn enemy since the Aleuts were the cause of the destruction of her tribe isn't it?
